All Out Peace in Mindanao |
|
Wednesday, 29 August 2007 |
|
PRESS RELEASE August 28, 2007
Calling for an all-out peace in Mindanao, party list Anak Mindanao, joined other Muslim organizations, in convening the Bangsamoro People's Solidarity or BANGSA. Aimed at countering the Arroyo administration's three-year plan of an all-out war in the region to quell the terror group Abu Sayyaf, BANGSA counter-proposes a more comprehensive strategy in achieving lasting peace in Mindanao.
"In the decades of war that Mindanao has endured, by now we should have grasped the truth in the saying, 'In war there are no real victors…only victims' " lamented AMIN Representative Mujiv Hataman. "If War is the answer, this ill-named Mindanao problem should have ended decades ago. But no, it did not, and yet, we never changed plans." |

Anak Mindanao on the Anti-Terorrism Act |
|
Wednesday, 07 March 2007 |
|
PRESS STATEMENT on the HUMAN SECURITY ACT (or ANTI-TERRORISM BILL) Febuary 21, 2007 Now that the dreaded “Anti-terrorism Bill” has been approved, I maintain my assertion that such law will primarily affect the Muslims in the country, considering that even before its passage into law, there is great number of reported cases of torture and harassment against Muslims who are allegedly suspected terrorists. Thus, I stand still with my objection against the Anti-Terrorism Act, even in the guise of being called as the “Human Security Act of 2007”. |

Pope Benedict XVI Against Islam and Prophet Muhammad |
|
Thursday, 23 November 2006 |
A Mindanao party-list lawmaker on Monday demand nothing less from Pope Benedict XVI on the statements the latter made against Islam and Prophet Muhammad, to come out again and make a pastoral, pontifical or whatever the Catholic Church may call it, a statement from his lips, saying that he is mistaken for quoting irresponsible and distorted information against Islam and the Beloved Prophet of ALLAH.

Press release of the parliamentary and civil society mission to Lebanon from India, the Philippines and Brazil. Filipinas in Lebanon treated like ’modern-day slaves’ Hezbollah not seen as ‘terrorist’ organisation Filipina overseas workers in Lebanon are being treated like “modern-day slaves,” this was the main finding of Filipinos who had just arrived from Lebanon as part of an international civil society and parliamentary delegation. "The working conditions of Filipinos in Lebanon are terrible,” said Rep. Mujiv Hataman, Anak Mindanao party-list representative. "They are promised $200-a-month salary when they are in Manila but they get only $150 when they arrive in Lebanon. They work from 5am to 12 midnight everyday without any day-off. Some of them are even made to work in factories, after working at their employers’ households,” Hataman said, summarizing their interviews with dozens of Filipinas in the Philippine evacuation center in Beirut. |
