Downgrading OMA is Insulting |

The Anak Mindanao Party List representative on Wednesday assailed President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s deliberate neglect and continued maltreatment of Filipino Muslims in terms of addressing its plight and concerns as “Filipinos” following its decision downgrading the functions of the Office of the Muslim Affairs (OMA) through an Executive Order (EO) which he claimed as “highly insulting.” Instead of restoring OMA from its previous status as a Cabinet office during the Marcos regime, Anak Mindanao (AMIN) Rep. Mujiv Hataman scored Executive Order 496 promulgated last January 23, 2006 placing among others, the OMA under the control and supervision of Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP). |

A Muslim lawmaker on Monday called on Congress to hasten a bill that would postpone the scheduled elections in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) on August 8, citing serious credibility problems faced by the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) to spearhead an impartial, credible, orderly, peaceful and honest election. Rep. Mujiv Hataman (Anak Mindanao Party-List) predicted a chaotic political exercise that could be marred by massive cheating if the ARMM elections push through. |

HATAMAN CALLS FOR THE CONFISCATION OF LOOSE FIREARMS AND THE DISTMANTLING OF PRIVATE ARMIES Anak-Mindanao Party List Rep. Mujiv Hataman calls on President Arroyo to seriously implement her order to eliminate the proliferation of unregistered firearms and the dismantling of private armed groups which have been blamed as contributory to the worsening peace and order situation in the country. Hataman expresses deep concern that the President’s latest order will only add to the many unfinished programs of the present administration because of lack of political will. |

A party-list lawmaker on Tuesday condemned in the strongest possible term the senseless and coward act of Abu Sayyaf on series of bombings that rocked General Santos and Davao Cities in Mindanao and Makati City in Manila the other day leaving 7 people dead and more than 94 persons wounded. Anak Mindanao Rep. Mujiv Hataman called on Abu Sayyaf to cease from perpetrating actions which victimizes innocent Muslims and Christians, trying to live under the climate of peace and prosperity free from fear and danger. |
