The Hataman-Dumarpa Anti-Discrimination Bill

Rep. Mujiv Hataman of AMIN Party List and Rep. Faysah RPM Dumarpa of Lanao del Sur had filed two different bills on anti-Discrimination. Their bills are now being consolidated into one. 

This consolidated bill is now on the process of being formulated and framed. We would like to hear your views about this bill and help contirbute to its construction by making your comments on its draft posted here.

Consultation with Muslim community leaders in Metro Manila
dinner consultation meeting AMIN (Anak Mindanao) Party List Representative Mujiv S. Hataman hosted a dinner meeting with leaders of Muslim communities in Metro Manila at Gloria Maris Restaurant in Greenhills on August 28, 2007. Invited as guests to the meeting were Major General Mohammad Benjamin Dolorfino, recently appointed Commandant of the Philippine Marines and Police Chief Superintendent Sukarno Ikbala, Deputy Director of the PNP's Directorate for Police Community Relations.

dinner meeting The meeting was called by Rep.Hataman to consult AMIN's constituency in Metro Manila on peace and order situation especially with the ongoing war in Basilan and Sulu and its consequence to Muslim communities in Metro Manila. Muslims have become usual suspects in the campaign against terrorism and its communities becoming favorite targets for zoning operations and police raids against alleged terrorists. Just recently a tricycle driver in Maharlika Village, Taguig was arrested by the Police allegedly for being a terrorist.

Ikbala who are themselves Muslims, assured thedinner meeting Muslim leaders that the AFP and Police would follow proper procedures in conducting its operations against terrorists. They asked the community leaders to immediately report to their office any incidents of violations of human rights committed against residents of the Muslim communities. It was agreed that a monthly regular meeting between the PNP and AFP and the Muslim leaders will be conducted in the communities. This will be made to ensure that Muslim communities in Metro Manila will be protected against illegal raids and zoning, and its residents protected against violations of human rights and abuse.

dinner meeting The dinner meeting was attended by Muslim leaders from Quiapo, Taguig, Tandang Sora, Caloocan and Pasig. Muslim lawyers from the Muslim Legal Assistance Foundation (MUSLAF) also attended the meeting, as well as former Commission on Human Rights Commissioner, Nasser Marohomsalic.
