The Hataman-Dumarpa Anti-Discrimination Bill

Rep. Mujiv Hataman of AMIN Party List and Rep. Faysah RPM Dumarpa of Lanao del Sur had filed two different bills on anti-Discrimination. Their bills are now being consolidated into one.

Anak Mindanao celebrates International Human Rights Day in Cotabato City

HR Day Rally Joining the entire world in celebrating International Human Rights Day, Anak Mindanao and KUMAKALABAN in Cotabato City conducted simultaneous activities. As a build-up activity, press releases and invitations for the Peace caravan were distributed to the radio stations and broadcasted during radio interviews. The youth also organized a mini-concert dubbed, “Muzika para sa Kapayapaan”.

In the afternoon of the 10th of December 2007, a Peace Caravan started from Sinsuat Avenue moved around Cotabato City while speakers delivered their speech and inviting the audience from the streets to join and watch the program to be held in City Plaza. Simultaneous with the caravan was the “Muzika para sa Kapayapaan” mini-concert organized by the youth also at the City Plaza.

Thousands of Cotabateños watched and joined the program. The program consists of the delivering of statements from different sectors of the society speaking on the issues of human rights violations (political killings, harassments, illegal arrests, bombings, poverty, state terrorism etc.). Leaders of various organizations spoke abou their sentiments on the issues and calls for ending all forms of human rights violations, upholding and respecting human rights. They demand for justice and prompt action on the cases of the human rights violations.

The KUMAKALABAN participating organizations were Kutawato Council for Justice and Peace, Inc. (KCJP), Development Consultants, Inc. (DEVCON), Alyansa ng Makabagong Kababaihan para sa Kaunlaran (ALMAKKA), UP-SAVINGS Multi-Purpose Cooperative, Neighborhood Urban Poor Multi-Purpose Cooperative (NUMPC), Young Advocates for Peace and Solidarity, Inc. (YAPS), Young Dreamers for Peace and Development (YDPAD), Teduray Lambangian Youth Students Association (TLYSA), Teduray Lambangian Women’s Organization, FIDEL Bongabong Movement and Mindanao Council of Lumad Women (MCLW).
