Message to Ma’ahad Al-Maárif

Republic of the Philippines
House of Representatives
Quezon City, Metro Manila

Hon. Mujiv S. Hataman
Representative, Anak Mindanao (AMIN) Party-List

MESSAGE

Assalaamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh!

I wish to congratulate this year’s graduating students who have completed the two-year Islamic study course. This will indeed add to the number of young Muslims who will impart and share what they have learned through the years of study as soon as they go back to their respected provinces, inshaÁllah.

However, I wish to remind the graduates that two years of studying Islam is not even a fraction compared to those illustrious scholars before us, (e.g. the four imams of fiqh; Abu Hanifah, Ahmad ibn Hanbal, Malik, and Shafi’e; and the famous Sheikh-ul-Islam ibn Taymiyah), who devoted all their lives in acquiring Islamic knowledge.

As Allah said in the Holy Qur’an;

“And if all the trees on the earth were pens and the sea (were ink wherewith to write), with seven seas behind it to add to its (supply), yet the Words of Allah would not be exhausted. Verily Allah is All-Mighty, All-Wise.”  (31:27)

Further, the Prophet (saw) said; “Seek knowledge from the cradle to the grave.”

The knowledge that you have acquired shall serve as amanah from Allah azza wajal to neutralize the growing misconceptions regarding Islam and the Muslims. Therefore, I urge the graduates to fulfill their obligations of spreading Islam’s beautiful teachings through the ways demonstrated by our beloved prophet, Muhammad (saw). Convey to our critics and adversaries that Islam is not a religion of extremism and terrorism; instead, it is the only religion that will solve the problems besetting this nation as a whole.

I also wish to commend the management and teaching staff of Ma’ahad Al-Maárif in its continued effort to produce young Muslims to become future imam of masajid and active propagators in the field of da’wah islamiyah.

Lastly, I wish to congratulate the parents and family of the students for devoting their sons in the pursuit of Islamic knowledge for the sake of Allah azza wajal.

May Allah (swt) bestow upon all of us hidayah and tawfiq, ameen.

HON. MUJIV S. HATAMAN
