AMIN HOLDS SPECIAL CONGRESS

Anak Mindanao Party List held a Special Congress last July 4-5, 2009 at the Silsilah Harmony Village, Sinunuc, Zamboanga City. With the theme, PAGBABAGO: Sama Sama, GAWIN NATIN, almost 300 AMIN members from different parts of Mindanao and the National Capital Region attended the Congress called by the party’s national council.

Aimed at consolidating and strengthening the general membership of the party, organizational reforms were called to order, with the filling up of some vacant positions in the Council and the Executive Committee as well as the creation of and election to the new position of Deputy Secretary General.

The Congress also reaffirmed the resolutions and actions adopted by the party through the National Council from the last AMIN Congress to the present. It further declared the said special Congress as the party’s 4th Congress and mandated the Council and the ExeCom to initiate plans and preparations for the AMIN 5th Congress in preparation for the 2010 elections.

With representatives from the tri-peoples of Mindanao present, the Congress also served as venue for the Tri-People caucus, with Moro, Settlers and Indigenous peoples meeting independently to discuss internal concerns affecting them vis-à-vis the party.

A blood-letting activity in partnership with the Philippine National Red Cross was also held simultaneously. Dubbed as “Dugo Alay nAMIN para sa Pagbabago at Kapayapaan sa Mindanao,” AMIN members took the opportunity to donate blood.
